Sears Tower TLR

Sears Tower Twin-Lens Reflex

Believe it or not, Instagram was not the first innovator in square-format images. This is a Twin-Lens Reflex camera that I stumbled upon in a junk/antique/curio store here in Birmingham. It’s a Sears Tower 30, which is actually a re-branded German camera called a Photina Reflex, made by Photavit. It was made from 1955 to 1959 and uses a type of film called 120mm, which produces square, 6in x 6in photographs. The pictures from French Lick in the previous post were all taken with this camera. It is my favorite film camera that I own so far; more to come!
